The Good vs The Bad.
The Good vs The Bad
Senate Banking Democratic Committee holds forum to investigate the attack on the CFPB.
February 25, 2025 - Washington D.C.
“The welfare of America is intimately connected with the happiness of all mankind.”
It all started with a Facebook post I made in support of the CFPB to get to Washington D.C.. It cannot be understated how validating it was that if you choose to do the right thing, even if unpopular opinion, it will eventually pay off.
I could not be more grateful for the opportunity to speak on behalf of the mortgage industry about the good the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau provides and how it can improve my career, rather than restrict it. Now, let me be very clear, this is NOT about CAM taking a political stance and is solely dedicated to protecting the CFPB so they can protect YOU.
We take no satisfaction from deceptive business practices, partaking in fraudulent activity, or seeing vulnerable consumers be abused by financial institutions.

In a room full of Senators and lawmakers - Myself, Attorney General Andrea Campbell, CFPB Director Lorelei Salas, and an Army Veteran, Stacey McCall, testified on what benefits consumers have from the CFPB, and what is at stake if it were to be dismantled.
Over $21Billion has been returned to consumers who were harmed by a financial company with the help of the CFPB. Their oversight includes collection agencies, mortgage companies, banks, auto loans, education loans, and other financial scammers. The complaint database maintained on their website is public, searchable, and is intended to help consumers make better financial decisions with transparency you can’t find elsewhere.

Now, I get it…CAM Mortgage Partners is a mortgage company, and it may seem surprising that we would be in support of regulation of mortgage companies. On the flip side, inaccurate credit reporting, bait and switch tactics, depletion of hard earned money with junk fees, and poor experiences with the Bad Actors in the mortgage industry only hurts the reputation of the Good Actors.
Let’s gut the industry of the bad to make more room for those of us that are good.

Our mission in customer advocacy is simple and one of the main reasons we started CAM. We want consumers to be setup for success when they make the leap into becoming a homeowner. When a consumer experiences hard times, they need to be reminded of the options available to them and not taken advantage of through predatory lending tactics. Until we can say without a doubt that all financial companies follow the law and will never take advantage of consumers, we have to maintain balance between the financial institutions and the consumers with the help of the CFPB.
